Across Australia, construction productivity is under the microscope. National reports show output per hour worked has been falling for decades, while project delays and cost overruns continue to erode confidence in the sector.
Across Australia, construction productivity is under the microscope. National reports show output per hour worked has been falling for decades, while project delays and cost overruns continue to erode confidence in the sector.
At Rigsafe Lifting Solutions, we see this challenge every day. And while we understand that some delays are inevitable, they’re no less frustrating. So, rather than stand idly by - figuratively and literally - our team has been quietly building practical solutions that are now reshaping how our projects run.
Learning from Global Best Practice
The reality on many sites is that bottlenecks cost hours, and sometimes days. A design clash might set off a chain of phone calls, meetings, and paperwork before a resolution is signed off. By the time the issue is documented, time, money and patience(!) may have been lost.
We knew there had to be a better way. A few years ago, we travelled overseas to see how leading crane companies in Europe were using digital tools. Their systems were impressive, and we came home determined to build something different: a platform that placed compliance, safety, and productivity side by side.
That led us to develop a fully customised system through the Assignar platform. It’s important to note that it wasn’t an overnight success. As with any change, particularly the adoption of new technology, it took time, education, and perseverance to integrate, but today it has become central to how we deliver for our clients.
Now, a problem discovered on site can be photographed, documented, and sent with a proposed solution directly to engineers and project managers in minutes. What once stalled a project for half a day can be resolved within the hour. This isn’t a hypothetical; this is happening on our job sites now.
Digital Assurance in Practice
Our suite of digital tools goes well beyond convenience:
- Assignar ensures 100% compliance tracking across licences, inductions, and inspections. The system won’t allow an out-of-date ticket to slip through scheduling.
- CraneBee produces detailed lift plans that optimise crane usage, cut setup times, and reduce risk.
For clients, this translates into safer lifts, faster programs, and lower total project cost. As one major builder told us recently, the ability to customise our app to their exact reporting needs was “light years ahead” of what they had seen from other subcontractors.
Digital assurance isn’t just about saving time; it’s about protecting people and projects. By removing paperwork bottlenecks and compliance blind spots, we reduce the chance of mistakes, delays, or unsafe practices that put lives and investments at risk.
The construction sector doesn’t have to accept inefficiency as “just the way it is.” By combining digital innovation with disciplined processes and ISO-certified systems, we’ve seen that projects can be delivered faster, safer, and with greater certainty.
And we’re not done yet. With much of this technology still to be fully embraced in Australia, our focus remains on developing tools that not only save time and money, but - most importantly -safeguard lives and protect projects. We look forward to sharing what comes next.
